While seas and oceans cover nearly 70% of the planet’s surface and play a critical role in the provision of vital ecosystems, their deterioration has been a result of overexploitation, pollution, and the impacts of climate change. SDG 14 emphasizes the use and conservation of the ocean and its resources, including coastal areas.
